Surround Yourself with Good Things

I used to think I wasn’t very good at life. I’d look around—outside my home (and sometimes inside) - and think the world was yucky. Yucky, rude people. Ugly buildings. Dirt. Political upheaval. Disappointment. Tragedy.

But in the past few years, I’ve realized that actually… there’s an equal amount of yucky and good. The world will inevitably throw both at you. And it’s our job, if we choose, to surround ourselves with the good - the beautiful, the happy, even the fun.

Humans are meant to be productive. That doesn’t always mean grinding or hustling in the traditional sense - although, yes, that can often give us the ability to build fun, happy, beautiful lives.

Sometimes it simply means pulling out the puzzle box and watching Return to Me on your bed with a cup of tea and a cat.

Zoning out at the gym with the new full-cast edition of Harry Potter on Audible.

Baking a dark chocolate cake - your favorite recipe - even when there’s nothing to celebrate, and enjoying a slice with a cup of Pero… and, yes, a cat.

Walking somewhere secluded on a crisp winter day and noticing the sky and the birds.

Cuddling up with a kid to watch The Croods 2 for the hundredth time.

Taking a hot bubble bath with a plate of veggies and dip while the Cozy Fantasy playlist plays on Spotify.

Or writing - not because anyone will see it, but because writing is its own kind of therapy.

Whatever it is… pickleball, rock climbing, yoga, puzzles, running, music, words, lunch, visiting with friends, the movies… yes, even shopping can be fun. Do it. And watch your days become more productive when you allow little pockets of time to wind down and release.

Watch your home - and really, your whole life - become surrounded by the good, the fun, the happy, the joyful.

You will magnetize those things, people, and experiences to you - because they can't help it. It's a law of the universe.

Happy Monday!

Laura :)

The Good Life: My Story (some of it :)

In 2021, I was sitting in my living room working on a puzzle – alone – for what seemed like the first time in almost 15 years. After 11 years of homeschooling, a challenging move from state to state,
