Happy November!

Thanksgiving is coming! We’re saying goodbye to October and some pretty mild weather. We’ve started using our wood stove, and I’ve made room for the mug rack by the teapot in the kitchen. It’s officially cozy season.

October was a bit emotional and busy, but not nearly as busy as summer. Thank goodness! You know, there’s busy and then there’s BUSY. That was summer. Six-and-a-half kids, plus their friends in and out, football, harvest, narrating, another kid leaving the nest... It was crazy.

I don’t love crazy.

Fall has been infinitely quieter. My routine is back. My house is tidy and happy. We did have conference events, lots of projects, dance, and basketball started as soon as football ended. So, not exactly sitting around twiddling our thumbs, but definitely better!

We stopped claiming to know anything when we hatched a few teenagers, but I have realized the importance of kids finding “their people” as young as possible. Good people. Motivated people. Whether it’s sports, academics, hobbies, church—something! Otherwise, kids tend to become what my husband and I call factionless. You know what I mean. The ones who loiter around Walmart with little direction. We’ve had those!

Fortunately, they do grow up, and we’re seeing great things come from our older kids (Family A, as we call it). But with our younger kids (Family B), we’re stuffing them into every sport and activity they want. I have resigned myself to being a permanent chauffeur. Trust me, I fought it for years. I’d rather be home. But apparently, raising well-rounded humans requires a lot of windshield time.

On my quest for more clean, well-written books, we attended some great conference events, which I felt were a huge success! We met so many wonderful people, made a lot of important business connections, and have more planned for next year. I’m excited to see where it all goes!

We also enjoyed a trip to SPI with my parents. It was a great distraction after kid number two flew off to the Philippines. He’s doing great!

On the narration front!

I recently finished Jodi Burnett’s SURVIVAL (Tin Star K9 Series, Book 10), as well as ** The Peace of Letting Go by Judy Dyer**.

Gwen Downs is working on a great series about people-pleasing, which has been a fun project.

More projects are in the pipeline, but we have another trip coming up in mid-November, so they’ll have to wait until afterward. Yes, palm trees are involved. So is work. But what’s better than palm trees + work?

Christmas is around the corner! And I don’t want to hear it from any of you Grinches. Trust me, James chose not to die on that hill. The tree goes up as soon as the pumpkins and ghosts come down. I can’t wait.

I almost turned on Christmas music in the car, but even my loyal little elves said it was a little weird in October. Apparently, there are limits to their holiday spirit. We’ll see how they feel in November.

Happy Thanksgiving!
